It can take great courage to come to therapy. I am extremely passionate about helping to reduce stigma around help-seeking behaviours for emotional distress and mental health issues. Life can unexpectedly throw situations at us that cause utter chaos and confusion. For some of us, this can leave us feeling overwhelmed and a bit stuck with how to deal with a range of mixed emotions such as: loneliness, anger, sadness, fear, disgust, betrayal, guilt, shame, to name but a few.
I value the importance of building a trusting, non-judgemental relationship with my clients and strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship can help clients to talk more openly which may lead to a more positive outcome and healthier way of living. My approach is to work hard to support my clients with whatever is troubling them using a person-centred, humanistic and integrative approach which has also been shaped by my past clients. I genuinely care for my clients and try to provide warmth and empathy on a human-to-human level which can be the key ingredients needed for successful therapy.
To become a fully qualified Psychotherapist, I studied at UCLan for six years. I have a degree in Psychology, and an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy. I also worked as a volunteer Psychotherapist with a charitable organisation in Preston, in addition to undertaking private practice. My background in supporting others is varied. I have worked in corporate environments, diverse educational settings but more importantly; I have experienced human suffering on many levels. I respect difference and aim for therapy to feel inclusive.
